Studio Stories-Claire Jenks Graphic Design-Company Update

Wow. March has been a month and a half! I’ve met a lot of people, learnt a lot, changed the way I think about my business, tried new things and have traveled around 12,000 miles or more! I marked March in my diary as a month for developing my knowledge and my relationships with the people around me and it didn’t disappoint.

First up in March was the first ever Atomicon conference, which was hosted by Andrew and Pete, and took place in none other than my home city Newcastle upon Tyne. It was even more special to have been asked by Andrew and Pete to help them with the design work and the creation of the yearbooks that each delegate received. It was a fun packed day fueled with laughter, learning and lots of paper, all starting with a jazzy shirt themed pre-event party…..obviously! On the day we heard from some amazing speakers which all had a running theme of “facing the fear” and I came away with a lot of resonating words which I’m looking forward to implement over the next coming months. Atomicon 2020 tickets are out now, and it’s going to be an incredible day at one of the most iconic buildings in the North East, The Sage. Go get your tickets now! You won’t be disappointed, let me know if you’ll be there!

2 weeks after Atomicon, I flew out to San Diego to attend Social Media Marketing World, which was an amazing experience. Being able to travel with some good friends, seeing Andrew and Pete keynote and meet some of my clients was the icing on the cake. The week was full of workshops, talks which has given me a lot to think about for both my own business and social media strategies, as well as my clients. It was also great to have the chances to say hello to so many like minded people who had so much value and fun to share, including meeting people in person that I’ve met on social media. I’ve not been as inspired by people as I did coming away from this place. Meeting Chris Brogan, seeing Andy Crestodina speak and meeting my client Madalyn Sklar in person were some of my highlights. I was thrilled when Madalyn asked me to help her with her presentation deck for her talk.

The trip couldn’t have ended any better, than myself and Richard Tubb being upgraded to business class on the way home. My face was a picture when I realised we were being upgraded and not being thrown off the plane! I’m going to be going through my notes and what I’ve learnt over the next few months so be sure to keep on eye out for more in depth insights into what I learnt. If the dates work, I’ll definitely be back next year!

The month finished on a high when I was invited down to The London Stock Exchange by Richard Tubb who was hosting a live video webinar for Avast Business. I was sitting as a panelist alongside Robert Gibbons from Evaris Solutions and Fiona Challis from TechData to talk about social media marketing vs social media advertising. The TV Studio set up along with all the cameras and editing desks, it was an amazing experience to be a part of, with great feedback too after the recording.

I was very honored to be asked to speak at the Content Creators Unite event by Pascal Fintoni from Digital Drive Durham. It was lovely to share my own content marketing journey to the room of delegates, letting them know they don’t need to feel overwhelmed and that there can be a huge impact on their business by taking action. There were also a few mentions of Max, my new Cockerpoo puppy!

I’ve met so many people this month, with far too many to mention across the conferences and visits to London so here’s a few of the people I met along the way! Unfortunately I lost a lot of my photos so this is just a handful of the ones I’ve managed to find on social 🙁

I attended a ‘Unravelling The People Puzzle’ workshop hosted by Beverly Sherratt from LaunchpadHR which looked at how we communicate with and create content in the way our audience needs to hear and see it. It was fascinating to hear about the different ways people communicate themselves and how they take in information. As a visual person, I must remember that others will consume content in different ways so will be putting what I’ve learnt into practice over the coming months. I also opted for a DISC Profile with the workshop so have also learnt a lot about myself too!

One of my goals for a while has been to hire a VA to help me with my admin, especially when I’m attending all these exciting conferences. This is the year I’ve jumped in and am very pleased to have Holly on board as my PA. She keeps my right with emails and has done wonders organising my meetings and my calendar so far!

Work has been underway whilst I’ve been traveling and speaking at different events and I’m super chuffed that a recent rebranding project for Tracey Tait is completed and looking forward to seeing it all come to life over the next few months! I’ve also been working with MLC Immigration Lawyers in Manchester with some new stationery and D-C-Fix with some point of sale designs.
